I aim to evoke an atmosphere of nostalgia, while portraying the hardships which came with the crofting way of life.
I painted from black and white 1930's postcards of Shetland, and mirrored the composition from the postcard, building up washes of acrylic over oil pastels to create an interesting surface, introducing colour to make the painting aesthetically pleasing.
